I sincerely hope that you are doing to it what you did to "The Da Vinci Code."

I read the back of each of the books to get a feel for the story, tried the first few pages of each to get a feel for the writing style, said "Christ, this sucks more than Twilight" and dropped it. I don't want to get sucked in to every passing literary fad, especially because most of them err more to the "fad" than the "literary" side of things.

So, yes, by all means, French or Russian novelists to compensate! Or perhaps some Austen. Or Dickens. Some Thoreau. Something classic and redeeming of ANY nationality. Or a real good biography. British history. Anything, really. Want to do a tandem read of "Les Mis"? I do need to try it. I've given up on "Dracula" (for the sixth time), so I need something to redeem myself as a literature scholar.
